What a truly special evening it was as we celebrated our talented Young Georgia Authors at a reception hosted at the Georgia Writers Museum last night. First, second, and third place winners from each grade level, kindergarten through twelfth grade, were recognized for their outstanding writing achievements. šŸ“–

One of the most exciting moments of the night was watching our first-place winners see their writing brought to life as a book of their own—an unforgettable experience for these young authors. In addition, our SEVEN region winners were honored with trophies in recognition of their exceptional accomplishments.

Judging by the promise shown in their work, it’s not hard to imagine some of these authors appearing on future best-seller lists one day! šŸ“š

More than a hundred War Eagles from Putnam County High School participated in the Smithsonian’s Voices and Votes exhibit today in Eatonton. Students in US History, Government, Civics, and 11th grade ELA classes encountered the story of American democracy through primary sources and interactive experiences that brought national history into local focus. Some rising seniors even registered to vote!

We cannot thank the incredible volunteers and docents from Georgia Writers Museum and the Old School History Museum enough for the time, care, and heart they poured into making this a meaningful and memorable learning experience for our future voters.

Today we proudly welcomed Mrs. Rachel Kinsaul, the Georgia Teacher of the Year to Putnam County High School!

From an early morning arrival to a full schedule of meaningful conversations, the visit highlighted the incredible work happening across our district. Guests were welcomed by our Superintendent and CTAE Director, setting the tone for a day centered on collaboration and excellence. Mr. Abney, our Science Department Chair, provided the introduction and avenue for this guest speaker opportunity.

Our recently named Georgia Nutrition Director of the Year, Teena Carr, shared insights on our innovative harvesting initiative and the many opportunities it creates for cross-curricular learning. A special highlight of the day was meeting student leader Coreyona Farley, an Education as a Profession Apprenticeship participant and member of both the State and District Superintendent Advisory Boards—truly representing the bright future of teaching.

Mrs. Kinsaul led an engaging guest speaker session, where students explored their own personalities and gained valuable skills for working effectively with others.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to share our story and celebrate excellence in education right here at PCHS!
