Putnam County Elementary Schoolās Pickleball Club is Off to an Amazing Start!
Weāre thrilled to kick off the inaugural year of the PCES Pickleball Club! Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders have been bringing the energyāand the skillsāevery week after school.
Whether students bring their own paddles from home or use the schoolās equipment, theyāre jumping right in and learning fast! Through pickleball, our kids are building handāeye coordination, sharpening reaction time, and developing quick, confident footwork that can help them in all kinds of sports and activities.
We love seeing their excitement, teamwork, and growth each week. Stay tunedāthereās so much more fun to come from this awesome group of young athletes!





Yesterday we held our very first Summer Inspiration registration event for 2026āand what an incredible turnout we had! With such a wide variety of camp options available, weāre committed to helping every child discover a program that excites them, fuels their creativity, and turns their summer into an inspiring adventure. Weāre excited to create meaningful, memorable experiences for all Summer Inspiration participants and help make this summer truly unforgettable!

At last nightās Board of Education meeting, we had the absolute pleasure of honoring two incredibly special members of our PCCSS family ā Ms. Erica Barksdale, Para at Putnam County Elementary School, and Mrs. Suzie Davis, Accounting Specialist at our Board Office!
These two remarkable ladies consistently go above and beyond in everything they do. They embody the true spirit of teamwork, offer unwavering support to their colleagues, and genuinely care about the people they serve each day. Their dedication helps make our district a better place for our children, our staff, and our community.

Putnam County Charter School System is excited to announce Dr. Carletha Pearson as the new principal of Putnam County Primary School!
Dr. Pearson joins us after serving the past four years as a principal in Clark County Schools. She will step into the role at PCPS following the leadership of Dr. Fanicia Rogers, who has served as principal since 2018.
Yesterday, PCPS teachers and staff had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Pearson for the first time and beginning to welcome her into the PCPS family.
Although Dr. Pearson officially begins her tenure as principal on July 1, she will start transitioning into the role as early as next week, dedicating time to connect with staff members and learn more about the school community.

Our Putnam County High School Service Leadership students surprised their Putnam County Elementary School Trailblazer buddies today for Read Across America!
They spent time enjoying lunch together, playing on the playground, and sharing some special reading time. To make the day even sweeter, each Trailblazer student was gifted a brandānew book from their Service Leadership buddy. It was such a wonderful way to celebrate the joy of reading and strengthen the bond between our students.

Today, 220 Putnam County High School students in grades 10ā12 participated in an impactful presentation titled āSmart Choices, Bright Futures: Opioids and Your Brain.ā Nurse Educator Jessica Swymer, MSN, RNCāan Eatonton resident from Putnam General Hospitalāshared valuable information about how opioids affect brain chemistry and the link between emotional health and addiction.
She also equipped students with practical tools and healthy strategies for managing stress. The session wrapped up with a thoughtful Q&A. A special thankāyou to senior Coreyona Farley for recording the presentation so parents and community members will be able to view it on our school website.

Putnam County Middle Schoolās Agriculture program is excited to welcome three adorable new rabbits to the classroom! These sweet additions will play an important role in handsāon learning, giving students the opportunity to practice proper animal handling techniques, develop skills in small animal care, and deepen their understanding of animal biology. Beyond academics, the rabbits will also help teach responsibility, compassion, and respect for living creaturesāvalues that stay with students long after they leave the classroom.
We are grateful to Ag Teacher and FFA Advisor Ms. Coyte and PCMS Principal Macklin for helping bring these new classroom companions to PCMS, and we canāt wait for everyone to meet them and hear their names soon!

What an incredible accomplishment and testament to her commitment to growth, advocacy, and excellence in special education leadership!
We are beyond proud of her dedication to serving students, families, and educators with excellence.

Read Across America is a nationwide initiative that encourages children to discover the magic of books and develop a lifelong love of reading. Moments like theseāwhere students hear stories read aloud, ask questions, and make connectionsāhelp build early literacy skills and spark imagination.
We are proud to support literacy from the very beginning and grateful to our staff for taking the time to make this week extra special for our students. š

Putnam County High Schoolās Robert Thomas, serving as the Georgia 4āH State Board President, had the incredible honor of addressing both the Georgia Senate and the Georgia House of Representatives during Georgia 4āH Day at the Capitol last week in Atlanta. Representing more than 190,000 Georgia 4āH members, Robert spoke to state leaders about youth leadership, personal growth, and the importance of discovering oneās āspark.ā
While at the Capitol, Robert was recognized by legislators and met with several state leaders, highlighting the meaningful impact of 4āH youth leadership across Georgia.
We are extremely proud of Robert for representing Putnam County with excellence on such an important stage.
