PCCSS was thrilled to welcome representatives from the GaDOE to Putnam County Elementary School today as they presented our PCCSS Nutrition Director, Teena Carr, and her amazing team with the āGarden of the Seasonā award! š
This recognition honors schools with outstanding edible gardens that support handsāon agricultural learning and connect students with fresh, local food, and only four schools in the entire state receive this award each school year.
Two major factors in PCCSSā win:
ā¢ PCCSS HydroFarms, where students grow lettuce, vegetables, and fresh herbs served in our cafeterias.
ā¢ Our on-site cattle program, where three beef cattle are being raised to provide students with fresh, locally sourced ground beef.
These effortsāalong with their commitment to Farm to School initiativesāhelp create meaningful learning experiences and healthier meals for our students.
