PCHS Region 4 – AA Region Champs! The first half passed with only one goal scored by Lamar County. With around ten minutes left in the first half a Lamar played took a shot from thirty yards out and the wind took over from there. Michael Williams was unable to predict the flight path and the ball made it into the net. He did a great job as the wind produced some rather strange situations. Michaels second half performance was excellent fending off several intense Lamar attacks. Offensively we made at least 20 shots on goal during the first half including one penalty kick but missed each one. Each shot went off the goal post, wide or over but not in the net. I believe we were a little nervous due to the pending region outcome. With 20 minutes left in the game Luis Lopez put just the right amount of touch on the ball scoring our first goal. Several minutes later he scored his second goal of the night. Lalo Carassco put the third and final goal in with around 8 minutes left. Our defense held fast the remainder of the game and allowed me to relax following a nerve racking first half. Cortez Swain one of our leading scorers pulled a hamstring muscle and will be out for the rest of the season. I have faith in my players and am confident they will rise to the upcoming challenges.
