Curriculum and Instruction

The Purpose of Curriculum and Instruction services is:

To provide support at the district and school level relative to curriculum, delivery of support services, interpretation of compliance with policy requirements and best practices.

To increase awareness and knowledge in current research and best practices in order to strengthen and foster high levels of achievement for all students.

To monitor the fidelity of implementation and compliance with local, state and federal guidelines.

To ensure all stakeholders engagement and input is considered in the planning and implementation of programs and initiatives.

To forge communication links between and among all programs and schools.

To stratify assistance and support services to schools based on levels of student achievement.

  • Putnam County Charter School System receives College and Career Academy Grant.
  • Teachers receive innovation grants awarded by Putnam County Charter School System
    • Putnam County Primary:  Mandy Stanford and Jennifer Puckett, G.I.V.E. Get Involved Volunteer with our Eagles", will create a program to develop opportunities for parents and community volunteers to get involved with PCPS classrooms by reading or practicing sight words and math facts.  The award is $10,000 which is primarily used for iPads.
    • Putnam County Elementary:  Cheryl McMichael, Reading Comprehension Project, an afterschool program for low achieving 5th grade students through project driven and interactive activities.
    • The award is $5,700 which is primarily in salaries and supplies for staff involved.
    • Putnam County Middle:  Mary Sue McMichael, NSpire Calculators, using graphing calculators to engage students in math concepts and skills.  The award is $4,500 primarily for NSpire calculators.
    • Patricia Hurt, Handheld Library, Using kindles and e-readers to improve students' ability to analyze and interpret text.  The award is $4,500 primarily for Kindles and training.
    • Christina Edwards, iPad Lab, Providing iPads to give students an interactive learning environment.  The award is $1,000 for the purchase of iPad software.
    • Putnam County High:  Becky Nipper, Digital Learning, Using e-readers and iPads with multimedia software to incorporate technology skills into ELA and Social Studies lesson plans. The award is $5,000 for the purchase of equipment.
  • Cammie Branan, fifth grade teacher at Putnam County Elementary School, receives funding for digital microscope through DonorsChoose.org
  • Brian Avery, Band Director at PCMS, was awarded the National Foundation Awards Grant to Outstanding School Music Programs for $14,500.
